Typically many churches rely on the method of the "Roman's Road" and the "salvation" prayer to win souls. First of all let me make one thing very clear- I am not disputing that the word of God has errors or that it is incapable of salvation. What I am disputing is that there are people who use the Word of God out of context.
Example- Roman 10:13 says, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved
This is where the "soul winner" typically stops. To fully understand what this verse means, one needs to continue reading the verses.
It says in verse 14 -How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
So my question is...how can people call upon Jesus in whom they have not heard of or believed in. Belief in Jesus must come first before one calls upon his name. Most people have not sat under preaching to hear the laws of God, be put under conviction, and come to the realization that they are lost and allow the Holy Ghost to awaken them to salvation. Galatians 3:24-25 says, Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
We are not Calvinists. Salvation is easy and can come at any time to anyone; freely. But we live in a day and age in which the average person is not allowed to realize and agonize over their lost condition and see the realization for the need of Jesus as their savior.
We live in a "microwave; easy believe-ism" day and age where the soul winners use easy believe-ism as a new Holy Ghost to bring them under conviction. Soul winners read verses from the bible and tell people to repeat a prayer and then 1, 2, 3...they are saved.
Nowhere in the Word of God, in context, does The Lord give us a plan of salvation and or prayer to use for soul winning.
How many people have you led to the Lord by using this "Roman's Road"plan of salvation and these same people have changed lives and are serving The Lord?
People are being led to say this prayer and told that they are saved, left out in the world with no change and have become another notch on someone's belt. This same method almost sent my wife and I to hell. People need to be brought into church, be put under preaching, be put under Holy Ghost conviction, realize they are lost, and allow Jesus to do the saving.
